“The Vision driven photographer” by David DuChemin – e-book review

I just finished reading newest e-book, “The vision driven photography” by David DuChemin. For the first time, I have a real trouble formulating the review on the spot. It is really hard to talk about it, without repeating the sentences and concepts from the e-book, which would defeat the purpose.
I think that this e-book is especially wrote not just to be read through, but also to be thought through. The content is divided into two parts. One in a sense is a summary of many thoughts already found in “The Vision trilogy”: “Within the frame”, “Vision mongers” and “Vision and voice“. But in “The Vision Driven”, they are refined, and boiled down to the essence. For sure, the e-book offers no easy solutions to find your own expression of yourself through your camera. But the second part of the books is full of creative exercises to put you in the right mind set. So, if you feel that you had just about enough talking about the photographic technique and gear, and need something deeper to bring your photography to the next level, this e-book might be just what you are looking for.

There some great images here, too. But with the complexity of the text, they are just an accompaniment which might get lost if you don’t come back to it. Some of them have the distinct style from the “Iceland” e-book, but some are apparently from the latest trips. There is one image which has the special meaning in the e-book, as it serves as a great example of the thought process of producing the picture which tells the whole story about the scene. Check it out for yourself.

Here is how Craft & Vision summarizes the “The Vision Driven Photographer”:
“The Vision Driven Photographer”, Notes on Discovering & Refining Your Vision is an engaging and inspiring ebook focused on helping photographers of all levels make stronger photographs by identifying or re-discovering their photographic vision.

By clarifying the things you want to say you’re better able to wield the tool of your expression – your camera – to create photographs that say what you want to say, and move others. Working through these insights and the accompanying creative exercises will help you uncover or re-discover your vision, first personally, then photographically.
