Old carriages

May 17th, 2011

We took this image during our last visit to Pioneer Village in Scott County Park, Iowa. It is the old blacksmith shop with gas station and auto mechanics additions (the guy was good with catching up with progress). The old carriages were in the most interior part of the building, and there was hardly any light reaching them. That’s OK. We has a single flash, which we used to mimic the effect of day light coming from the open doors would give. It puts a little bit of focus on this crowded space. It also adds interest and atmosphere to the image.

Camera & Lens: NIKON D300 18.0-200.0 mm f/3.5-5.6, Flash fired, compulsory flash mode, return light not detected.
Focal length: 18 mm Shutter: 1/125 sec. ISO: 1600 Aperture: f/7.1

Great capture. Looks like a really nice place to shoot a few images.

Indeed. If it wasn’t a “day for flash” photography, I would probably be shooting HDRs :).
