A few weekend ago, we went to see one of Iowa curiosities. In the town of Traer, there is a Salt and Pepper Shakers museum (also featured several years ago in USA Today). Within over 16,000 of shakers pairs, it is really hard to find small glass bottle with metal cap with wholes, or whatever shaker you put on your table when you sit to dinner. But there is a very interesting collection of animals, cartoon characters, food and vegetable shaped shakers, as well as holiday themed shakers, with Christmas and Santa Claus motives leading there. But what I found most interesting was the collection called by the stuff “go-withs”- sometimes matching and often very atypical pairs of collectible shakers.
