Skin of an apple

There is this amazing image by Paul Caponigro of an apple. I am fascinated by this image, by great light and contrast used to show a staple in a way that all you see are galaxies and stars. I want to have a print of it on my wall one day.

My image does not come close, but I was not trying to imitate. I wanted to show how interesting the skin of apple can be if you look up close. At this distance, though, even f/16 was giving me just a slice of focus, so I went with focus stacking to expand it enough for better viewing experience.
