Tiny cones

This weekend, it was time for another treat from LensRentals. This time I wanted to try Nikon 105 mm f/2.8. I am often missing the close-up focus in my other lenses, and except of Lensbaby with macro rings, which posese challenges by itself, have not had occasion to do macro work. So, I put the lens on and went to the park to look for subjects. I optimistically started to photograph with f/5.0 and less, but quickly discovered that the depth of field when I stick the lens into the cone is just too shallow :). It is fascinating to watch the needles surrounding the cone, and see how their curved shapes make them in focus and down the length- out of focus. This is one of my favorites of the day.
