Turkey vulture’s red head

Moose Peterson’s blog is one of those unique places I would recommended to anybody, even to people not interested in photography all that much. Whether it is an airplane or a wildlife species, you can learn a lot from Moose’s posts. He tells stories of images, but he also tells the stories of his subjects. He surely knows what he is talking about, on both counts.
Like this story of turkey vultures from few weeks ago- who would know?

This article reminded me of the series of photographs of turkey vultures I took early this summer over Coralville Dam. We were walking there one beautiful Sunday afternoon when we spotted a large group of birds above out heads. Not until we saw them resting on the side of the dam did we realize these were not the hawks or eagles, both popular in this spot.
