Inside Cloisters

I have seen this gorgeous portfolio “Anglophile” by John Giolas in the lastest issue of LensWork (iPad edition). 37 beautiful black and white images made in and around the old churches somewhere in Great Britain. Stone buildings, a lot of texture, details of architecture, mystery created by the dim lit interiors. It made me think of some of the images I had the chance to take last year’s trip to New York City, when I ventured to Cloisters. It was am ambiguous feeling, walking surrounded by the art and architecture from Medieval Europe. But a photographic treat, nevertheless. And the black and white, contrasty treatment really goes well with the subject.
