#Macro Monday – Screws at San Francisco pier

I decided to get a break today from a long stream of plants, flowers and bugs for #Macro Monday. Although they just look great as macro, there are other objects around which can use a close up. Like those screws. We were standing on at San Francisco’s pier 41, waiting for a ferry to take us to see Golden Gate bridge. I was looking around for interesting subjects related to pier construction and maritime use- wooden boards, ropes, and screws. This image turned out to be my favorite. Shallow depth of field draws attention to the subject, while leaving the other screw there shows repeating pattern. I focused on the front screw in post processing – by adding contrast and sharpness with Local Adjustment brush, I emphasized the texture of metal.
